Artichoke
Artichoke – Cynara scolymus
Artichokes are grown on plantations in coastal areas throughout Europe, especially France and Italy, and around the Pacific. The artichoke contains a lot of vitamin A, various minerals, leucine, and bitter substances. Its healing properties come from the specific bitter substances found in the root and leaves. They contain active substances that stimulate the liver to flow the bile, and they have a special aroma. They work similarly to turmeric and the like. Tea from its leaves helps digest fats, stimulates urination, heals the gallbladder and cures the liver, removes urea from the blood, cures cirrhosis of the liver, and jaundice. It helps with kidney stones, gout, rheumatism and swelling in hydropsy. Tincture from the fresh plant is prepared as a remedy. The extract is also useful, but the tincture is more suitable because it can be mixed with other fresh-herb tinctures for better stimulation of liver function. With today’s foods that are extremely high in fat, it is good to take a product that helps the bile flow into the intestine and that stimulates the liver to function more intensively. This prevents the risk of gallstones. The liver is the regulator of health, thus attention should be paid and proper care applied.
