Tea tree
Tea tree – Melaleuca alternifolia
Tea tree essential oil has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal effects on bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is used against all forms of respiratory infections, skin infections, acne and immunodepression, and for skin damage caused by radiation therapy. The oil does not burn or damage the skin, but it can cause skin irritation when applying the concentrate. It is also good for wounds from injuries, insect stings, and infections. Tea tree is a wild plant that is being cultivated on plantations today. The leaves, i.e. the leaf glands, contain essential oil. Tea tree comes from Australia, so regardless of the world-wide plantations, the oil composition and quality do not match the ones of the high-quality tea tree oil from Australia.
