Pine resin

Spruce and pine shoots contain bitter substances, essential oils, resin, and a bit of tannin. Volatile turpentine oil is obtained from the resin of various types of pine and spruce trees by water distillation, of which oil 25% is useful, and the rest is rosin. Tea blends are made, and tea is not used; it is a favorite for respiratory diseases and flu. Pine oil is used for inhalation. The syrup is used for influenza diseases in children. When pine resin ointment is mixed with lard, it can be used on larger areas of the skin, for rheumatic diseases and wound healing. Baths are also made from fresh needles and green cones. It has a characteristic odor. Pine oil stimulates the skin, which turns very red, and the blood supply is so strong that the skin becomes hot. It is used for skin diseases such as acne, in the form of ointments and preparations to be rubbed into the skin. As it stimulates the skin very strongly, we use it in ready-made preparations. There are few plants in folk medicine for which so many preparations with needle-like leaves are known.
