Willow bark helps with bleeding from the lungs and kidneys; in diseases with fever, willow bark tea is used with great success. It helps the excretion of urine and uric acid, so it is successful in treating rheumatism and gout. We put compresses on open sores from ulcers, and we put compresses of crushed leaves on sores from bites, stings and cuts. Pregnant women are prohibited from all preparations made of willow. Willow ash removes corns and warts. Baths made with willow bark are recommended for weak children; it also lowers the temperature and has an antiseptic effect. All willows are therapeutic although there are many species. They grow best in humid places. The bark has characteristics similar to the oak one.
