Beeswax
Beeswax
Beeswax is a mixture of organic compounds obtained by a secretion of eight glands on the ventral side of the worker bee’s body. It is soluble at a temperature of 62 to 64ºC. It is a very important ingredient in many cosmetics and herbal preparations used for various purposes. It is often used because it is a completely natural substance that does not cause allergies, and gives the finished product its texture and firmness. It has a pleasant smell, and it protects and softens the skin. It is used in the creams for feet, body and hands, in lipsticks, eye shadows, balms, soaps, and candles. Beekeeping has been very developed throughout history, so much attention has been paid to the use of wax. It was also used in painting, pot making, and embalming. In inflammatory processes, wax destroys and stops microorganisms because it has antibiotic properties. It revitalizes and removes wrinkles from the face. Ointments and creams prepared from beeswax can be used for atrophic and purulent wounds, and have excellent effects due to its antibacterial activity.
